Finding Healing in forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, as also in Christ God forgave you.

Never are we more like our Father God than when we joyfully extend forgiveness to those who have hurt us! Through the selfless love of God, we have the excellent opportunity to roll away the burdens of emotional, spiritual, physical, or psychological wounds. Though these wounds can be painful, embracing forgiveness allows us to heal and grow! Some might try to tuck away their hurts and pretend everything is fine, while suffering in silence,  but others may wear titles or degrees as a shield, functioning while still carrying those wounds. They often hurt others along their pathway, but let’s choose a different path—a path of joy and freedom!

What a blessing it is to know that God desires wholeness for us! He has poured His love into our hearts, empowering us to love like Jesus! Romans 5:5 We are called to forgive as freely as He has forgiven us. Our lives should radiate God’s love, and when they do, forgiveness naturally flows from that love, reflecting His mercy and grace. It’s important to remember that we can’t truly forgive in our own strength; it’s through the supernatural power of Jesus Christ that we find the ability to let go and move forward in joy.

As Philippians 2:13 reminds us, God works within us the desire and ability to fulfill His will. It all comes down to a choice to obey. If our hearts are filled with genuine love for God, that love will lead us to forgive others wholeheartedly, and obedience is a result of loving God. John 14:15

Let’s embrace the beautiful opportunity to imitate Christ and forgive those who have caused us pain. The price of holding on to unforgiveness simply isn’t worth sacrificing the intimate fellowship we enjoy with God and one another!

I want to encourage you with this: God is a faithful defender, and He will perfect everything concerning you. Beloved, never avenge yourself, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine”, I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19

A Key Takeaway: Forgiving others sets us free and deepens our relationship with God and one another, as we are continually being transformed in His Image and Likeness! So, let’s celebrate the joy of forgiveness together!
